I have followers!

I have been a bad (new) blogger!  I now actually have some followers, and I haven't posted anything since March.  I need to change things around here!

I am currently training for 2 races to close out 2011: the Buffalo Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, which is an 8k, and the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis in Rochester, NY on December 3rd.  I'm hoping for PRs for both of these races, which is how I closed out 2010.  My current PRs for these distances occurred at these races last year:  39:45 for the 8k, and 23:03 for the 5k.  One of my good running buddies is going to run with me at the Turkey Trot.  She is much faster than I am, and I'm hoping she will push me to a PR.  I'm secretly hoping to beat my husband's time from 2 years ago: 38:49.  I ran a hilly Halloween 5k a week ago and came away with a 23:43, which is my fastest 5k so far this year.  The 5k in December should be flat, so I'm hoping to beat that time!  I love running in the cooler fall weather.  Stay tuned for epic race outfits :)

1st post

Welcome to Skirts Rock! I love to run, but more importantly, I love to run in a skirt :) I ran track in high school (the middle distances), but left running behind once I graduated from high school. After seeing a running class offered at our local YMCA 3 years ago, I signed up, and got hooked :) I ran my first 5k 3 short months after that, and I haven't looked back since.

Recently, I have been trying to build my mileage back slowly since I suffered a muscle tear in my calf in January. I have really missed being out on the roads, but I have cross-trained faithfully. I am now running 3 times a week, with the hopes of getting back to racing in the summer and fall.

I started reading other people's running blogs last spring and really enjoyed their personal accounts of all the highs and lows that come with running. I hope can contribute something useful that will resonate with other runners.
